Please support our planning application to create Longfurlong Meadows Community Nature Area.
Longfurlong Greenfields Association are more than simply ‘objectors’. In fact, we have a positive vision to enhance the beautiful tract of Cotswold countryside between Tetbury and Highgrove, in ways that benefit people, landscape and wildlife. To enable this, we have submitted our own planning application for a ‘change of use’, to create a Community Nature Area.
Please support our planning application which is now live and has the application number 26/00905/FUL. It can be accessed via the planning portal here https://publicaccess.cotswold.gov.uk/online-applications/ We need as many of you as possible to submit comments in support of this application. Please do this in your own words. A list of planning policies that our application supports is posted below.
What we are presenting is something positive that complies not only with all the current planning policies regarding preserving the Cotswold National Landscape but also is going to be popular with residents of the whole town. This is in contrast to Miller Homes plans to cover these wonderful meadows with 135 houses.
Obviously, we don’t own the land (yet…!) but it is perfectly legal to apply for planning on other people’s land so long as we notify them.
We believe that our proposal to create a Community Nature Area will support the following policies of the Cotswold District Local Plan (2011-2031)
Policy EN1 BUILT, NATURAL AND HISTORIC ENVIRONMENT
Our proposals will promote the protection, conservation and enhancement of the historic and natural environment
Policy EN4 THE WIDER NATURAL AND HISTORIC LANDSCAPE
Our proposals will take account of landscape and historic landscape character, visual quality and local distinctiveness. They will enhance, restore and better manage the natural and historic landscape, and significant landscape features and elements, including key views, the setting of settlements, settlement patterns and heritage assets.
Policy EN5 COTSWOLDS AREA OF OUTSTANDING NATURAL BEAUTY (AONB)
Our proposals will conserve and enhance the natural beauty of the Cotswold National Landscape (formerly AONB)
Policy EN7 TREES, HEDGEROWS AND WOODLANDS
Our proposals will conserve and enhance trees of high landscape, amenity, and ecological value
Policy EN8 BIODIVERSITY AND GEODIVERSITY: FEATURES, HABITATS AND SPECIES Our proposals will conserve and enhance biodiversity and provide net gains
Policy EN11 HISTORIC ENVIRONMENT: DESIGNATED HERITAGE ASSETS – CONSERVATION AREAS
Our proposals will conserve and enhance the wider setting of Doughton Highgrove Conservation Area
