Wessex Water

We have contacted the Planning Liaison and Capacity team at Wessex Water, regarding sewage works capacity and the impact of significant numbers of new housing in the area. They have told us that their latest capacity information from June 2025 indicates that the current population equivalent for this catchment is 7,988 and the design capacity of the site is 11,333. However, the works are discharging sewage into the adjacent stream around 33% of the time! All life in the stream is now dead. Wessex Water are relying on their discharge consents from the Environment Agency to say they have more capacity, rather than the sewage works being able to cope with, and treat additional sewage.
